Free - Not That Long Ago!
Not quite a 'Product' as it is an offering of some memories spanning the transition from lanterns and horse and buggy to grid-electricity and cars. This is a short book, written by my mother back in 1995, and provided now for any and all interested. Information and a .pdf file to download is here. Click for the info.
Software
We now offer software developed by Lex Rutter and provided as Freeware. There are two programs ready to go:The first is PhoneLogger (now in it's 3rd rendition).
Developed for government, business, or anyone who needs to regularly document incoming and outgoing phone conversations PhoneLogger is designed to replace "sticky notes", notepads, and log books. The package is small, compact, and completely Free. Source code is also available to those interested.
The latest is NmbrCVertr, a multi-functional number converter and calculator. This program offers the ability to convert number bases, sizes, volumes, speeds, plus perform quick interest-payment comparisons, and print out loan amortization tables. The calculator even provides the ability to keep a permanent record of your work.
Both available for Windows operating systems from Windows7 forward. (Note: PhoneLogger was originally tested on XP. We think both programs still work on that platform, but can no longer test for it.) There are 32 and 64 bit versions along with a user manual available for download here on our Software page. Click HERE for more information and a free download link.
Photographic Services
Scanning of negatives and other original work:
We will perform professional level flat-bed scanning of original negatives, slides, and other original artwork on an hourly basis. To use this service the person presenting the work to be scanned must either be the author (artist or photographer) or have the legal rights to copy and reproduce the artwork. We will not knowingly copy or reproduce copyrighted works for anyone other than the holder of the copyright.
Scanning may be requested at a variety of specific levels. The higher the level the longer the process will take.
A normal scan of 35MM film stock will take about 30 minutes to scan a full 24 exposure roll of film (either slides or negatives). The output will be a large file (typically over 25MB of data) per slide and presented in both TIFF and JPEG formats.
Normal scanning does not include any dust or scratch spotting or removal and the user should expect to spend some time with a photo editing program to remove typical dust spots.
Enhanced scanning will be estimated on a per-job basis. It may include advanced color correction (correction on a per-photo basis rather than per-roll); automatic and manual dust and scratch removal.
We do not normally recommend automatic dust/scratch correction as this is exceptionally time-consuming (and therefore costly) and with the currently available software not necessarily reliable.
A typical, well preserved negative or slide can be manually spotted in 15 minutes with good to excellent results.
Photo Restoration:
Damaged photographs will be scanned to a new digital image and manually retouched, edited, and corrected to produce a pleasing final image. This image will then be presented in digital form for use by the client.
Again, copyrighted images will not knowingly be accepted. Note that many old family photographs were created by professional photography studios. Unless these can be established as being created before 1925 we will require proof that either a copyright no longer exists, or that the client has received the right to reproduce the photograph. (Click on the photo at the right to see a second example.)
Upon request, and for a research fee, we will attempt to locate photographic studios and determine if an original negative is available and if the original studio will either provide the client with a new photograph or authorize the restoration of the existing photo.
Digital Photo editing:
We use at least two different digital file editing packages to rework your digital works. We can handle most photo files including Canon and Nikon RAW files; Adobe Photoshop files; and most other common (and a few not-so common) file formats. Note that Tecxl has no relationship with any of the mentioned brand names.
All photo and digital artwork editing will be done on a case-by-case basis in direct consultation with the client. We will make every effort to provide you with the final product you desire.
Scanning/restoration/editing Pricing:
All photograph scanning, spotting, and restoration is billed at $40.00 per hour, in 15 minute ($10) increments PLUS Media (disk, thumb drive, etc.) The client may provide the desired media or we can supply it at a cost.
An estimate may be requested before any work begins.
Artwork and Photographs
Prints on most photo papers (Including Satin and Canvas)
We have the capability to print on a variety of papers, up to 17x22 inch prints. This is simply a service we can offer, but note that this is not something we normally encourage. It is mostly for those who may have a need for specialized or careful adjustment to older photo, or images that need extra attention. Contact us if you require this, or need more information.
Photo scene painted on objects
We do some hand-painted 'Yard Art' on occasion. It takes a long time to go through the process, and each is an individual art-work. Once again, it is necessary to contact us with any request.
Painted objects can vary in size and price. The examples show here are with raw materials supplied by us. We can also use objects you supply. In preparing this type of art we have the metal pieces cleaned (sand or dust blasted), then we prime them before painting. Please contact us for pricing, our ability to actually paint the scene you desire, and potential raw material. What you see here are just examples.
Purchasing
At this time we are not set up to sell directly through this web site. We do not have storefront security capable of protecting your credit card information if we do on-line transactions. We can discuss your needs through correspondence and over the telephone. You may contact us through e-mail, but please do NOT attempt to send a credit card number through e-mail. This is essentially a Hobby-business, providing services. Should you desire a taxable item, we will need to work with a local partner/consignment business with the appropriate, and safe, billing and tax processes.
Also note that all sales are made in Nebraska. We can act as your shipping agent after the sale, but at this time we are only selling locally, and then through a consignment process.
